Australian usefulness and local discovery
We assess whether location and distance controls support realistic searching for capital-city, suburban and regional users. We do not treat a national member claim as proof of activity near a reader.
Our scoring method
Our scores are editorial judgements built for Australian readers over 50. They are not pay-to-win placements, guarantees of local activity or fabricated laboratory precision.

The scorecard
We use the following weights to guide the overall score. They keep the same questions in view across every provider, while allowing qualitative judgement where services use very different models.
We assess whether location and distance controls support realistic searching for capital-city, suburban and regional users. We do not treat a national member claim as proof of activity near a reader.
We look for clear blocking, reporting, verification and privacy options, plus usable guidance about scams and safer meetings. No control removes the need for personal caution.
We consider sign-up effort, legibility, navigation, profile quality prompts and whether a new member can understand what to do next without unnecessary friction.
We compare useful free access, communication limits, the total paid commitment, renewals, cancellation routes and whether optional add-ons are clearly separated.
We consider whether the service’s audience, matching style and pace support the intentions it promotes—from companionship to a committed relationship.
Evidence ladder
We start with official Australian terms, help pages, feature documentation and current public product screens. We use regulator and public-interest sources for safety or consumer-law context. Editorial interpretation is labelled as judgement. We do not infer local member activity from a global registration total, repeat a marketing claim as fact without attribution, or claim first-hand testing that did not occur.
Prices and promotions change too quickly to hard-code unless the date and conditions are essential. Reviews instead explain the contract checks readers should make at checkout.
Commercial independence
SeniorDating.com.au may receive a commission when a reader uses certain outbound links. A commercial relationship can affect which services are practical to feature, but it does not let a provider buy a stated score or ranking position. If a suitable provider has no affiliate arrangement, it can still be reviewed or discussed.
The database controls the public score, order and short product summary across ranking cards, review pages and structured data. Longer analysis is separately source-checked so changing a rank does not rewrite factual history.
