eHarmony asks members to complete a Compatibility Quiz and uses the answers to build a Personality Profile and suggest matches. This creates a more deliberate starting point than a quick photo-led sign-up.
A detailed questionnaire does not guarantee compatibility, but it can help people express values, preferences and relationship intentions that are difficult to communicate through a short bio.
What is free and what requires Premium
The Australian service says Basic membership can complete the quiz, see potential matches and view basic profile information. Premium unlocks complete photos, unlimited communication and additional features.
The provider also states that a one-month Premium plan is not available. Because subscription terms and offers can vary, judge the commitment by the total amount payable—not only a displayed monthly equivalent.
Cancellation and renewal deserve attention
eHarmony’s Australian terms describe longer Premium terms and automatic renewal. Turning off renewal stops a future renewal, but an instalment plan may still require the remaining payments for the term already purchased.
Before paying, save the offer, total contract price, payment schedule, renewal period and cancellation deadline. App-store purchases may need to be managed through the relevant store.
My editorial view
eHarmony is most persuasive when you genuinely want its structured process. If you would resent a long questionnaire or prefer casual browsing, its central advantage may become a burden.
For an Australian over-50 user, I would compare the free match list, age range and distance settings first. Only consider Premium once the local suggestions justify the contract length.
